According to the FCC’s press release, “the conditions imposed by the Commission address potential harms posed by the combination of Comcast, the nation’s largest cable operator and Internet service provider, and NBCU, which owns and develops some of the most valuable television and film content.” Conditions also include:
” Public, Educational, and Governmental (“PEG”) Programming. Comcast will safeguard the continued accessibility and signal quality of PEG channels on its cable television systems and introduce new on demand and online platforms for PEG content …”
Public Access stations are more important and needed more today than ever, especially in light of such acquisitions.
Thanks to those who have fought hard to advocate on behalf of all of us in the PEG community.
